Remembering together Installation

The perfect weather day to install interpretation across East Lothian, as part of the Remember Together Walking Trails on behalf of Remembering Together, Greenspace Scotland, East Lothian Council and partners. Two lectern stands have detailed map routes along the coast at North Berwick and village of Spott. Four freestanding posts contain zinc rubbing plaques with map routes, flora and fauna, to commemorate the walks during Covid at Haddington, Port Seton to Prestonpans, Tranent and Musselburgh lagoons nature reserve.

A big thank you to Eastern Exhibition who did a fantastic job producing and installing the interpretation solutions, designed by Artibrand.

Remembering Together East Lothian Trails

Artibrand worked with the Remembering Together East Lothian Team to create 6 trail maps, along with zinc rubbing posts, free standing signs, downloadable digital maps and a printed fold out map.

Steve Kirkpatrick worked closely with the team, which comprised of 2 lead artists, East Lothian Council and a variety of partners associated to each walk. Apart from creating the maps, Steve illustrated a selection of flora and fauna, which you are likely to see on each trail. These are represented on each map and on zinc rubbing posts at the start of the trails.

Borrowstounness simulated stained glass

Local buildings were researched along with images of the towns heritage (coal, steam and shipping) and a skyline was created set against a sunset sky. The foreground displays some of the water birds you might see along the shorefront at Bo’ness: Oyster Catcher, Ringed Plover, Curlew and Cormorant.

This particular design is purely based on flat colours, although the process allows continuous tone (eg. watercolour texture or even a photograph). Where there’s white in the finished design, this will be clear on the end result, allowing light to shine through.
